happy new year peeps! keeping the layered look going, especially now that michigan has been sprinkled with snow and nippy temperatures. i can't stop wearing dark colors either! maybe it's the cloudy days that has me gravitating toward the darker pieces in my closet. one of my goals style-wise for 2013 is to stock up on quality basics that can be easily mixed and matched. there are too many "trend" items in my closet that i won't wear again and i want to be much more purposeful in my shopping this year. does anyone else have "style resolutions" for the new year? hit me with 'em.

i love that resolution. i've actually been thinking about something similar. my closet is filled with non-trend items because i've focused on collecting staples. now that i'm paying back student loans and over my head in debt, i can't afford to buy all the peplums and pleather. instead of trying to break the bank to buy these things and not eat, i'm going to work on remixing my staples in ways i haven't yet.
