biz casual 2.0

it's another "blair does business casual" day!

just so you all know, i'm all about being thrifty [aka. practical] and reusing clothing pieces. you might remember some of these pieces from previous posts!

although it's a thrill to buy new wardrobe items, let's be real here... i'm a newly married 20-something post-postgrad from the midwest. i am that "budget friendly" shopper and proud of it! i love fashion, but with realistic expectations. i'd much rather be creative in reworking old pieces than breaking the bank to keep my content fresh.

can i get an amen? ;)

now having said that, do any of you girls have thrifty shopping secrets you'd like to share? here's mine... buy basics. it makes mixing and matching a breeze!

  1. Amen sista!! LOL. I feel like I buy a lot, but I purge, recycle, and donate a lot too, so I make some money back in the end. I'm trying to make my shopping smarter though if I'm buying new. I try to make sure that the item absolutely fits. No more of the I'll lose 5 pounds to make it fit nonsense because that never happens. Or, it doesn't look good on me, but I love it anyway. I'd rather spend my money on clothes that fit andddd look good. I've wasted too much doing it the other way.

That being said, when it comes to thrift stores, I go all out. Because my Salvation Army has 50% off days and so I can get like 8 things for about $10 or less. It's pretty awesome. :)

Enough about me...I love your top. You look good in that neon color and I love the gladiator sandals. Hope you're not too hot during the heat wave! <3

    1. I need to hit up Salvation Army more! I use to during the winter months for cozy grandpa sweaters ;) Lately I've been stocking up on cheap tank-tops for mixing/matching. Because once I get home from work it's all about comfy clothes (ie. cutoffs + baggy tanks)!!

Ah yes, I survived the heat wave last week! All of West Michigan was freaking out about it. I can't even count how many times I heard the words "hydrate", "heat index", "global warming"... Hahaha... We Michiganders loooove to talk weather. We're aspiring meteorologists!

  2. AMEN!!! I completely agree with the CPW idea. With staple pieces I will spend more but when I go to thrift stores I tend to let myself go and allow myself to try more outrageous things and be more creative. Also! Never underestimate the power of consignment stores, you can make some good money to add back into your clothing budget.

ps. you look so cute! That grey skirt looks like so much fun and very versatile.

    xoxo!!

  5. And there is a mesmerizing vibe of delicacy in your Corporate outfit, the (effortless) way you flirt with it I must say (§ deeply approve) Dear ("Wink from a kind aesthete") !

  6. Love it! When I walk into a store I immediately hit the SALE rack first. I usually always find something good and then I can just browse the rest of the store. Thrifty girl all the way!

  9. Black and yellow are always good friends. I like the combination of necklace and top.

  10. I am allllll about being thrifty. I shop maybe twice a year and it's usually consignment -- the bulk of my "new" pieces usually turn out to be hand-me downs. I love this outfit; and not until this blog did I really consider the whole hombre trend. Great look :)
